Management
Bernard Sater:
Founder, Chief Scientist, and Board Director, Bernard had a long and successful career at NASA Lewis Research Center (now named "Glenn Research Center") with broad experience in engineering. His most recent position was Project Manager for Advanced Development, where he was responsible for the International Space Station solar cells and associated materials. He retired early in 1994 to devote his time to commercializing his unique PhotoVolt™ solar cell invention. Bernard holds a B.E.E degree from Ohio State University and an MSEE from Cleveland State University, with additional graduate studies at the University of Toledo. Bernard has been awarded 5 patents.
Neil Sater:
Founder, CEO, and Board Director, Neil left Intel Corp. at the beginning of 2008 to devote full time to GreenField. At Intel he managed America's Comms, Media, and Software business development teams, driving commercial success of the Company's new products and major growth initiatives such as WiMAX, Centrino and Atom Processors. Prior to Intel, Neil worked as an engineer and engineering manager for Spectra-Physics, where he was an Associate Scientific Fellow. Neil founded Pumpadoodle Productions, taught in the Myers University MBA program from 2000 - 2002, and holds 1 patent, with others pending. He holds a BSEE from Ohio State and an MBA in finance/marketing from Wright State University.
Jim Latham:
Director of Operations, Jim was a founder of Thermagon, Inc., where he served as Director of Operations from 1994 - 2000. In this role he managed production, purchasing, HR, maintenance, and engineering, overseeing major infrastructure changes and rapid employment increases that supported a corporate growth rate of over 6000%. From 2000 -2004, Jim held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing, and after the acquisition by Laird Technologies, served as Global Product Director until 2006, doubling the business during his tenure. Jim has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Toledo, and worked as an engineer at Meriam Instrument from 1988 - 1994.
Jon Jackson:
Engineering and Production Director, Jon founded Global Neighbor, Inc. in 2003, a producer of environmentally friendly residential lawn and garden products. He oversaw all aspects of business growth, developing three distinct products and establishing production and distribution channels. Prior to Global Neighbor, Jon worked for 19 years for Spectra Physics (also named Spectra Precision and Trimble) as a Business Director, Product Marketing Manager, Engineering Manager, and Manufacturing Engineering Manager. He was an Associate member of Spectra-Physics’ Scientific Fellowship for his numerous contributions in Manufacturing Engineering. Jon holds 5 patents and has others pending. He earned a BS in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Ohio State.
Mico Perales:
Director of Business Development, Mico recently led the commercialization effort of a nanotechnology based thin-film solar cell start-up, as CEO of Ubiquitous Technologies Inc. He has also served since 2001 as a Corporate Officer of PMI Oil Tools, a manufacturer of oil field equipment, during which time the company grew substantially. From 1995 to 2004, Mico worked in a variety of roles, ranging from economic development to business development for a multimedia internet appliance startup, and as a marketing manager within Texas Instruments’ New Business Development Group. He holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from Dartmouth College.
Terry Zahuranec:
Engineering Director, Terry has over 20 years experience developing and launching leading edge mass volume consumer products, and has a rich background in manufacturing, materials ,and computer aided design and analysis methodologies. A mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Akron, Terry holds 41 patents with many others pending.
Daniel Sater:
Engineering Director, Daniel has over two decades of experience as a design engineer at Lincoln Electric, where he worked in Machine Research and Development, focused on both new product design and product support. Daniel holds Bachelor's and Master of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Cincinnati, where he specialized in semiconductor device physics, and an MBA from Cleveland State University.
Jim Zalusky:
Founder and Technical Consultant, Jim developed the StarGen™ tracking and control system. He has over 40 years of experience in electronics and software design. His first patent was awarded in 1970 and his most recent in 2008, with numerous patents pending. He has worked for Bendix, Spectra-Physics, Hyde Park Electronics, and Trimble, with a broad application focus including solar power, robotics, and laser measurement, and he managed development groups at several of these companies. A registered Professional Engineer, Jim graduated “with highest distinction” from Purdue University, earning both BSEE and MSEE degrees.
Glenn Hasman:
Treasurer, Glenn spent most of his professional career working for RPM International, where he was most recently the VP of Finance and Communications, and prior to that, held a variety of senior financial management positions during his 27+ years with the company. RPM is a profitable, publicly traded company with >$3 billion in annual revenues and a market cap of nearly $3 billion. Immediately prior to joining GreenField, he served as CFO for an industrial adhesives start-up. Glenn, a CPA, received his BS in Accounting from Miami University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
Outside Directors
Mei-huan Yang:
Outside Board Director, Mei-huan has been an executive with Taiwan‘s Cleanaway Group (which is involved in waste management) since 1998. She is currently responsible for Cleanaway Group‘s Initial Public Offering. She was a Senior Tax Manager at Deloitte & Touche (Cleveland) from 1989 to 1998. Her extensive experience in global financial/tax consulting and diversified knowledge provide perspectives on all aspects of businesses for companies either entering or expanding in Asia. Mei-huan obtained her Master in Taxation from University of Akron, MBA from Kent State University, and B.A. in Accounting from National Chung-Hsing University (Taiwan). She is a member of both AICPA and Ohio Society of CPA.
Ellis Yan:
Outside Board Director, Ellis Yan is Founder and CEO of Technical Consumer Products, Inc. (TCP), an industry leader in energy-efficient lighting. Ellis came to America from China to study at Cleveland State University, where he earned a degree in Accounting, and founded TCP in 1993. The company introduced the “spiral CFL” bulb in 1996, and now controls a majority of the U.S. CFL market. Ellis has received numerous awards for his business leadership. He was named to the Forbes 2008 list of Notable Chinese Americans, the 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Science and Technology, a 2008 Cleveland State University Distinguished Alumni, a Master Innovator from Smart Business magazine, and received Cascade Capital Business Growth awards six of the last seven years.
